Ok… Reality television is the lowest form of entertainment in the world…blah blah blah…

The “reality” to reality TV is that people want to watch it and it is super cheap to produce since they don’t have to pay those expensive script writers (except for Hills of course). So networks will continue to produce these shows as they should. If a show gets ratings, there is somebody out there that wants to watch it. We just have to deal with it.

NBC’s latest reality show, Momma’s Boys, is as slickly produced as a Britney Spears record, and easily produces those moments that perfectly appeal to the disgusting reasons that we watch reality television.

Lets first look at the racist mother. Loud, obnoxious, and says things that make people cringe. It creates the dramatic fights and gives the dynamic to the show that causes huge fights and throwing temper tantrums.

The there is the porno star. We’re not talking about a girl that posed in Playboy, which I will go out on a limb and say is more respectable… we’re talking about Penthouse… the pictures of Erica Ellyson that she posed for are of her sticking things in places that… ok… let’s keep it clean. And her attempt to make it seem like it is in her past on the show is a joke, she was the 2008 Penthouse Pet of the Year. And it is creating this cringe enducing encounter when Erica finally comes out and lets the suitor know that viewers are waiting for, especially since it is the mother that is so in love with Erica.

Momma’s Boys will never make it to a second season, but that doesn’t matter, it is just like the droves of sensationalist, sex driven television before it. It is tittlating television that garners the day after discussions that drive ratings in a rough television market.
